The internationally active company BENNING, which has stood for high-quality measuring and testing devices in the electrical trade since 1948, is celebrating a remarkable anniversary this year: 75 years of DUSPOL®. The brand name DUSPOL® has been synonymous with a reliable two-pole voltage tester for decades and has established itself in the industry, similar to the well-known brands TEMPO® and UHU®.
What makes the DUSPOL® so special and timeless?
The history of the DUSPOL® began over seven decades ago, when the electronics industry was in the process of undergoing fundamental change. With the advent of new electrical appliances and electrical machines in the 1930s, the requirements for repairs, service and maintenance became increasingly complex. The discovery of the transistor effect by the American scientists Bardeen, Brattain and Shockley in 1947 heralded the era of microelectronics and brought with it new challenges for technicians.
BENNING recognized the need for an advanced testing device and in 1948 developed the DUSPA, the world’s first industrially mass-produced device for determining the absence of voltage. The DUSPA made it possible to safely test voltages in the range from 110 V to 750 V AC/DC and was therefore a milestone in the history of voltage testing. The basis for this was the invention of a moving-coil level indicator, which is still recognized in the industry today.
In 1954, BENNING revolutionized the DUSPOL® again and integrated a phase and polarity display into the device, giving it the brand name it still bears today.
Experience DUSPOL® digital and historical DUSPA immersively with WebAR
The DUSPOL® has made history over the last 75 years and has become an integral part of the electronics industry. The AR experience, which combines the historical DUSPA and the current DUSPOL®, now makes this history tangible for everyone.
The campaign ideally combines classic and digital media. By scanning a QR code with the camera of a smartphone, the AR experience is launched directly in the web browser. It is not necessary to download and install a special “AR app”.
“Web AR technology is just one example of BENNING’s creative and innovative approach to bringing its products to life and inspiring customers.” – Kolja Paus (Paus AR Studio)
